TITAN Ready To Go! and Foundation

Ready To Go!

The Ready To Go! framework is for young people from Year 7 onwards. It allows young people to become independent travellers at the right time for them.

Using this framework, schools and colleges can deliver training in a way that fits in with their education offer. Teaching staff can decide when their pupils should start training and the right level for them to start at. This approach is flexible and helps pupils progress.

The framework has six core modules for young people to complete, achieving red, amber and green levels as they progress. As they complete the modules, pupils also earn virtual achievement badges to celebrate their success.

Once they have successfully demonstrated that they have mastered each of the six modules at Green level, we'll support them to transition to independent travel to and from their school or college where appropriate.

Core modules and content

Pedestrian skills

This module helps a young person understand how to be a safe pedestrian. It provides activities they can apply in a range of real-world scenarios.

They'll explore why they are vulnerable as pedestrians and gain the skills to be safer when they're on their own.

Communication skills

The young person will explore different ways to communicate. They'll develop their speaking, listening and communication skills through activities and situations they may encounter when travelling.

Personal health, safety and wellbeing

Young people will learn how managing their own needs means they'll be better prepared for independent travel.

Problem-solving skills

Young people will experience situations which they may not have expected. This module teaches the skills to decide if this is a problem or an opportunity. Young people will learn how to approach and deal with unexpected situations, by practising in a safe environment.

Its aim is to teach young people problem-solving skills and give them confidence in their decision-making.

Journey planning

This module looks at both simple and more complex journeys. It helps the young person's to plan journeys they may already be familiar with, on to exploring unfamiliar journeys and how to plan for success.

We cover contingency planning as an integral part of ensuring success.

Journey practice

The skills and knowledge young people have gained through the other modules finishes with practising a variety of journeys and situations independently.

We'll cover all practical aspects of the journey, with the aim of the young person using transport safely and independently.

TITAN Foundation

The Foundation programme provides SEND schools with a travel training guide for students with complex needs. For these students, the programme focusses more on the experience of travelling, rather than achieving independence. School staff will support young people throughout.

It follows the same six modules as our Ready To Go! Programme. Students and schools can move on to Ready To Go! after completing the Foundation programme. The programme has red, amber and green objectives for each module, so schools can decide how best to deliver the outcomes, suited to the needs of their own students.
