Schools performance and standards

Information about schools performance is published annually by the Department for Education (DfE):

• Primary school information is based on Key Stage 2
• Secondary school information is based on Key Stage 4
• School and college information for sixth form is based on Key Stage 5

When new information is available

Schools performance information is published:

• Primary school: December
• Secondary school and college: January (subject to change)

School inspections

Schools are inspected to provide information to parents and carers, to promote improvement and to hold schools to account for the public money they receive. School inspections are required by law. They provide an independent assessment of the quality and standards of education in schools, and check whether pupils are achieving as much as they can.
