Community tree nurseries
Gressenhall Community Tree Nursery
Gressenhall Community Tree Nursery is a place for volunteers and community groups to help grow trees. These trees will be planted across Norfolk.
We collect seeds from nearby woodlands and hedgerows to help keep local genetic diversity. Volunteers process the seeds, plant them, and care for them until they grow into saplings that are ready to plant.
It's a shared space to learn and inspire others to grow trees in their community. The project has received funding from HM Government through the Trees Outside Woodland programme.
Buying trees
We sell bare-root and cell-grown trees for planting in winter. We mainly grow native broadleaved tree species. Email tree.project@norfolk.gov.uk for prices and availability. The minimum order is 10 trees.
We also sell a small number of trees in pots at the Gressenhall Museum shop. You don't need to pay museum entrance to visit the shop, and there is no minimum order.
Volunteering and visiting
We run volunteer sessions on Thursdays from 10am to 12pm. Read more about volunteering on the Gressenhall Community: Tree Nursery Volunteer page.
The nursery is open to visitors as part of Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse. Find out opening times and admission prices for the museum on Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse museums website.
