Over To You - Your Choice

These sessions will give students the opportunity to act out scenarios which they may face in their everyday lives. These sessions enable the students to visit difficult situations through role play, discussion and debate, but in a safe environment.

Spoken language underpins the development of reading and writing. The quality and variety of language that pupils hear and speak are vital for developing their vocabulary and grammar and their understanding for reading and writing.

Throughout the session's the facilitator will ensure the continual development of the pupils' confidence and competence in spoken language and listening skills and understanding of points made through Drama.

Aims

The Honest Truth

825,000 people in the UK pass their driving test every year and enjoy the freedom and independence of being a driver. But newly qualified young drivers are the highest risk road user group because of their driving inexperience.

The Honest Truth is a national road safety campaign delivered through collaboration with the emergency services, road safety organisations and driving instructors across the UK at no extra cost to learners. The mission is to deliver no-nonsense, straight-talking road safety education, "The Honest Truth".

During the first two years after passing your test, newly qualified drivers are in the probationary period which means they can lose their license if they get 6 points (equivalent of two speeding tickets or getting caught using a phone behind the wheel).

Aims

To help young people to become skilled drivers with hard wired safety instincts this Road Safety campaign is delivered within normal driving lessons by specially trained driving instructors equipped with the highest quality resources to help learners understand the main causes of crashes and how to avoid them, so they stay safe after passing their test.

It has been developed in a student user-friendly way and allows students to make up their own minds by giving them the facts.

Learn about the 10 truths from a qualified Honest Truth instructor, learners will be more aware of the dangers and well equipped to make good decisions to cut the chances of being involved in a collision or losing your license.

Learning objectives

On completion of the Honest Truth, learners will have learnt about the 10 truths:

  • Mobile Phones
  • Speeding
  • Drink
  • Seatbelts
