Earlham Fiveways
June to August 2019
Work completed:
- Upgrading three existing signalised crossings to toucan crossings allowing both walking and cycling
- Connecting the toucan crossings with an improved shared-use path
- Building a raised table on Gypsy Lane and implementing a 20mph restriction here and on adjacent side roads
- Resizing the central island and narrowing the width of the circulatory lanes to reduce speed and conflict
- Building splitter islands on the arms of the roundabout to allow convenient crossings for walking and cycling
- Installing new street lighting on the central island to illuminate the shared-use path and the splitter island crossings
The proposals were consulted on in July 2018 and were subsequently approved for construction by the Norwich Highways Agency Committee at their September meeting.
