Get involved

We want children and families to be involved in every aspect of SEND service planning, design and delivery. It is important that we get a wide range of views from different stakeholders.

With this in mind we are holding participation events with:

• Parent carers
• Children and young people with special educational needs
• Our working partners
• Teams within Norfolk County Council
• Healthcare providers
• Social care providers
• Education professionals

The sessions will have different topics and focus. 

We are looking for children and young people and parents/carers to read information and tell us if it is easy to read and understand.

This may involve being part of a small group or being sent information by email to read and then send back your comments.

The information could be:

• A leaflet
• A video script
• A webpage
• A poster
• A guide
• A plan
• Any of the above written in Easy Read

Your views will help us to change information that is unclear or difficult to read and understand, improving it for everyone.

Norfolk County Council is looking for a small group of young people that are aged 11 to 17 and are receiving Short Breaks.

We would like to work with the young people to create a short 2-minute video about what Short Breaks are and why they can be fun. The young people will work with Norfolk County Council’s graphic design and communications team to create a short animation to help families who do not know what Short Breaks are.

This will involve at least one face-to-face meeting and some virtual meetings. At the meet-ups the young people will discuss ideas, create storyboards and the script, record audio if they would like their voice to be included, give feedback on the first version of the animation and help approve the final version.

Gift vouchers will be given to all the young people that take part, to say thank you for their time.
