New Roads foster care
New Roads foster care involves working paid shifts in one of our residential care hubs in Norwich and Dereham. This is so you can develop a bond with a young person before you:
- Provide full-time or respite care for them in your home, or
- Support their return to their family home
The young people you will be working with are:
- In care,
- On the edge of care, or
- At risk of their care plan or family relationships breaking down
As a New Roads foster carer, you can help prevent this. You can help young people find the stability, security and nurturing environment they need to lead happy and fulfilling lives.

You will get paid at the sessional work rate for shifts at our residential care hubs.
Full-time or respite care in your home
If you provide full-time or respite care in your home for a child or young person who has been stepped down from New Roads care, you will get:
- Basic maintenance allowance, and
- Holiday allowance (for full-time care), and
- A placement fee at the complex placement rate
These will be paid pro-rata for the length of time you care for the child or young person in your home.
After 12 months care in your home
After the child has been in full-time care in your home for 12 months, you will continue to get basic maintenance allowance and holiday allowance.
We may reduce your placement fee to the standard or enhanced placement rate. This will depend on an assessment of the young person's needs.
