Corporate parent

When you become cared for, we (NCC, Norfolk County Council) become your ‘corporate parent’.

Although NCC is an organisation and not a person, we should act like a parent. We should look after you, to keep you safe and happy.

One of the ways we do this is by having a Corporate Parenting Board. This board is chaired by the Lead Member for Children’s Services and the Executive Director for Children’s Services, Head of Corporate Parenting, Health, the Virtual School and a young person all sit on the board to discuss what is working well for children and young people and what needs to change. This board makes decisions so it can make sure that NCC is being the best corporate parent it can be.
