Supporting looked after children aged 16 plus

Information on education, training and employment for care leavers.

Going to university

If you want to get to university, we will:

  • Provide or pay for accommodation during college or university holidays, if you are studying away from home
  • Give you a £2,000 bursary if you are in higher education

Apprenticeships

An apprenticeship is a job where you also complete a nationally recognised qualification. You are employed by a company who will pay you a wage and support you throughout your learning. You will also be enrolled with a training provider or college, who will guide you through your apprenticeship. Find out more about Norfolk apprenticeships (opens new window).

I have a disability. Can I do an apprenticeship?

Yes - if you have a disability you may need additional support from your employer, training provider or college so we would encourage you to talk to them about it. Find out more on the Disability Rights UK website (opens new window).
