The Open University
Introduction
The Open University offers part time, distance learning higher education courses.
They can be a good choice if you are working or looking after a child, and do not want to study away from home.
Financial support
Open University courses are normally paid for by a Part Time Tuition Fees Loan from Student Finance.
How you might pay for Open University fees
If you are claiming benefits these might be affected. Check with your work coach before you apply for funding or enrol on a course.
We will not pay for your accommodation costs while you are studying an Open University degree.
How we can help you financially
Higher education bursary
We will give you a £2,000 higher education bursary. When you complete modules you will be paid in instalments directly into your bank account. We will do this for no more than four years.
This agreement will be recorded in your pathway plan. We may ask you to pay some or all of the bursary back if you drop out of the Open University.
