Hobb's Drainage Mill

Hobbs Mill

This mill was built in the late 1800s and used until the 1930s. It was in a dilapidated state before it was restored by Norfolk Windmills Trust in 1983. It is one of only three open trestle mills (or 'skeleton mills') remaining in England (see also Boardman's Mill and St. Olave's Mill) and was the last to be fitted with a scoopwheel. It is a Grade II* listed building.

The tower of the mill is a timber trestle frame consisting of four cant posts supported on brick piers. The posts are braced with cross members. The frame supports a cap and fantail. The mill is not currently fitted with stocks and sails.

This mill stands on the north bank of the River Bure, south east of Horning. There is no public footpath to the mill. It is best seen by boat on the River Bure.
