Travel Norfolk's enhanced journey planner now delivers more choice with Beryl and Ginger integration
Norfolk County Council is thrilled to announce a significant enhancement to its journey planning capability. People searching for journeys in the Greater Norwich and Great Yarmouth areas will now be delivered options to travel using Beryl bikes and e-scooters and Ginger e-scooters.
Travel Norfolk's mission has always been to empower residents to find greener, cheaper, healthier, and quicker ways to get around the county. With this latest update, the website now delivers more journey options than other popular free journey planning sites and makes it simple for users to see all the options available to them.
The integration of Beryl and Ginger into the journey planner means that if a journey that someone wants to do starts and ends within 1 mile of a beryl or Ginger bay then this will be given as a journey option to the user.
Cllr Graham Plant, cabinet member for highways, infrastructure and transport said; "The Travel Norfolk website and journey planner is an exciting and innovative tool for both residents and visitors to the county. We wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to make informed choices about the way the travel and see the fantastic range of options available to them. Both Beryl and Ginger have very welcome additions to the areas that they operate in and they give people easy access to a sustainable way of travelling. I hope that with this integration, residents will be able to see when they can take advantage of these modes and leave the car at home more often."
Beryl CEO and co-founder, Phil Ellis, said: "Our latest annual Rider report showed that 52% of our Norwich riders connect their Beryl trips with public transport, which was double the amount from the previous year. The average distance of those journeys is less than 2.5km, showing the increasing importance of bikeshare as an option for the first and last mile journeys.
"By adding Beryl to the journey planner, Norfolk County Council are making it even easier for people to make sustainable transport choices, which will help lower traffic congestion while improving air quality and public health across the region."
