- Monitor the bridge to ensure it is safe to operate (roadway and pedestrian walkway)
- Monitor underneath the bridge to ensure it is safe to operate (waterway)
- Evidence any criminal offence (where applicable)
- Comply with any requests from police
We also use this information to assess the quality of our services and evaluate and improve our policies and procedures. We may also use information in other ways compatible with the above.

We will collect and use:
- CCTV Footage (above and below bridge)
Who provides this information
We collect this information from the CCTV cameras, which are in operation on and around the Great Yarmouth Herring Bridge.
Who we share your information with
We may need to share your information with:
- SSGC who operate the bridge on our behalf (they have access to live footage)
- The Police, if they make any legitimate request for the footage.
Any information which is shared will only be shared on a need to know basis, with appropriate individuals. Only the minimum information for the purpose will be shared.
How the law protects you and the legal basis for processing your information
We have legal grounds under the GDPR to process this information because it is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest with a clear basis in law. It is necessary under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 s3, for us to monitor the bridge via CCTV to ensure that no one is injured when the bridge is operated.
How long will we keep your personal information for
CCTV footage is deleted 30 days after it is recorded, unless it is needed to investigate a matter or comply with a legitimate request.
How we keep your information
The information is stored electronically, on our systems.
We do not process your information outside of the UK and European Economic Area.
Automated decision making
We do not make automated decisions about you.
