Discover Prehistoric Norfolk with the Extraordinary Extinct™ Prehistoric Quest

Norfolk County Council, 26 July 2024 12:47

Norfolk County Council's AtoBetter team have collaborated with Norfolk-based children's publisher Dodo and Dinosaur to launch an exciting adventure for residents to enjoy this summer with the Extraordinary Extinct™ Prehistoric Quest.

The quest offers people the chance to explore Norfolk's rich history and local treasures while promoting sustainable travel habits along the way.
Over the summer holidays, 15 areas across Norfolk have a unique prehistoric quest set up for people in the local area to enjoy.

Each location features a bespoke map, guiding participants to 10-12 bespoke markers placed at local businesses, amenities, and points of interest. These markers provide fascinating information about prehistoric creatures once native to Norfolk and feature an underlined letter to unscramble a mystery word.

Cllr Graham Plant, cabinet member for highways infrastructure and transport said; "We are thrilled to launch the Extraordinary Extinct™ Prehistoric Quest across Norfolk. This initiative not only highlights the incredible history of our local area but also encourages residents to explore what's on their doorstep on foot, or by cycling or wheeling while also encouraging people to adopt more sustainable travel habits for short, local journeys. It's an opportunity to engage with their community in a fun and educational way as well as helping to support local businesses."

Maps can be picked up for free from the following locations:

  • Attleborough Library
  • Aylsham Library
  • Blofield Library
  • Bradwell Community Library
  • Costessey Library
  • Dereham Library
  • Harleston Library
  • Hunstanton Library
  • Mulbarton Sports & Social Club
  • North Walsham Library
  • Poringland Library
  • Sprowston Library
  • Swaffham Library
  • Wymondham Library

Participants who complete the quest and reveal the mystery word can fill out a survey for a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses.
