Crab Lane/Church Lane junction improvements
Expected start date: to be confirmed
Norfolk County Council has put forward proposals for changes to the Crab Lane and Shrublands Way junction, which would be delivered using funding from Norfolk County Council.
The scheme aims to improve safety for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists using this busy junction, particularly people travelling to and from the nearby college and using local shops.
This project builds on other recent improvements in Great Yarmouth, including work to Market Gates bus interchange, pedestrian wayfinding, Fuller’s Hill roundabout, and pedestrian and cycling improvements.
The main aims of the scheme are to:
- Create a safer area for pedestrians and cyclists
- Improve accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists
- Improve traffic flow throughout the junction
- Reduce traffic speeds
Next steps
Norfolk County Council received a number of concerns from key stakeholders about the proposed scheme and have therefore decided to postpone the start of construction. This will allow us to work through the issues raised, carry out some further consultation with residents and other stakeholders and hopefully find a solution that is supported locally by all.
