Fifers Lane
July to September 2016
Improvements for pedestrians and cyclists were made at the Fifers Lane/Heyford Road roundabout. These included:
- Construction of a new walking/cycling link between Fifers Lane and Heyford Road
- Installation of two new raised tables on Heyford and Ives Road
- Installation a new shared-use zebra crossing on the western arm of the Fifers Lane roundabout
- Widening of the existing roundabout central island and improvement to the existing over run area
These measures were designed to calm general traffic and also improve the overall safety of the area.
Additional work
September 2017
- Construction of a new raised table for the existing shared-use zebra crossing on the western arm of Fifers Lane roundabout
- Reconstruction of the raised tables on Heyford and Ives Road
Reasons for work
- To raise the prominence of the existing 'carriageway level' shared-use zebra crossing
- To calm traffic to improve the overall road safety of the area for all users
- To improve facilities for pedestrians and cyclists
- Remedial work to existing raised tables
