Grapes Hill roundabout area
Start: August 2021
Completed: November 2021
Construction of a new zebra crossing on Cleveland Road and changes to improve bus journey times, traffic flow and walking and cycling facilities in the Grapes Hill roundabout area were two projects delivered at the same time in Autumn 2021.
The project around Grapes Hill roundabout is part of the Transport for Norwich Transforming Cities Fund programme of work, while the zebra crossing on Cleveland Road was a Norfolk County Council road safety scheme not covered by the below.
Background
The Grapes Hill proposals were consulted on in March 2021. All feedback was reviewed and plans revised in response, where appropriate. The points raised through the consultation were then presented in a report to members of the Transport for Norwich Joint Committee, along with the final proposed version of the scheme for construction.

Councillors voted to approve the scheme for construction at the meeting held on 10 June (full minutes available on the above link) permitting Council officers to progress the legally required traffic orders associated with these proposals.
The Department for Transport (DfT) has awarded £32m of funding to TfN from the Transforming Cities Fund to deliver a range of schemes across Greater Norwich. These projects aim to improve access to jobs, training and retail by supporting improvements to sustainable modes of transport, while also responding to issues around air quality.
More information about our application to the DfT and all the proposed schemes can be found at on our Transforming Cities page. You can also read more about previous, current and future TfN projects by visiting Transport for Norwich.
