Rewards and benefits
Why join us?
Working in Norfolk offers a great quality of life. As one of the region's largest employers, we offer a range of benefits designed to attract, develop and reward our employees.
Flexible/smarter working
We support flexible working opportunities wherever the needs of service provision allow. This includes part-time working, compressed hours and flexitime. We also use mobile technology that allows you to work from a variety of sites or at home to increase flexibility and reduce travelling time.
Family friendly
We offer generous maternity, paternity and adoption pay and time off to support you as your family grows. We also offer support if you care for relatives or friends who are older, disabled or seriously ill. There is an independently-run Kid Ease nursery located within the County Hall grounds, which offers priority spaces to our employees.
Inclusive employer
We are committed to equality and inclusion and welcome application irrespective of gender identity, disability, marital status, ethnic origin, age, pregnancy status, religion or belief, or sexual orientation. We are proud to have achieved Disability Confident Leader Status and the Employer Recognition Scheme award for the Armed Forces Covenant.
Competitive salaries
We have a transparent pay structure to ensure that we're paying fairly. Your pay is reviewed each year and will increase further each year until you reach the top pay point in your grade. You may get extra pay if you perform exceptionally well, take on new responsibilities, work weekends or overtime or provide out of normal hours cover.
Relocation expenses
As part of our recruitment package, for certain roles we provide assistance with relocation expenses to relocate to the beautiful county of Norfolk.
Training and development
We offer a wide range of learning opportunities. These include online learning, secondments, coaching and mentoring, as well as internal and external courses. We encourage and support our employees to manage their learning and pursue opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and experience.
Health and wellbeing
We are committed to promoting the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees. As well as providing access to services that support your health and wellbeing, such as confidential counselling and advice, fast-track physiotherapy and NHS Health Checks for employees over 40, we also offer training for managers to understand the impact they can have on an employee's wellbeing.
Corporate savings
Through Norfolk Rewards we offer employees access to discounts at a host of retailers, from money off your weekly shop to discounts on a well-deserved holiday and everything in between. We also offer the opportunity to purchase additional annual leave and add extra to your pension so you can retire with more money, through our salary sacrifice scheme.
Responsible travel
We are committed to supporting carbon efficient and economic travel to meet our carbon reduction targets. We support all employees with preparing personalised sustainable travel plans that can include: tax efficient ways to buy a new bicycle or electric or plug-in hybrid car, a shuttle bus, discounted and interest-free season tickets, pool cars, Norfolk Liftshare scheme and smarter technology to enable remote working where it meets business need.
Generous leave entitlement
We offer generous annual leave entitlement of between 33 and 43 days per year (including bank holidays) plus the opportunity to purchase up to 2 weeks of additional annual leave through the NCC salary sacrifice scheme.
