Referrals

Once received at the Sensory Support Centre:

• The referral will be logged onto the VSSS referral database
• The Team Leader for Deaf or Vision Impaired children and young people will allocate the referral to a teacher in the appropriate team
• The teacher will make an appointment to observe and assess the child. Parents will be invited to attend this appointment 
• The teacher will confirm the appointment with the parents or carers and setting 

Following the assessment, a report written by the teacher will be sent to the parents and setting.

The report will contain a set of recommendations to enable the child or young person to access the curriculum.

The teacher will also indicate the frequency with with VSSS will offer support to the child or young person and their setting.
