How to apply

You must apply for a taxi license from your local licensing authority.

Your local licensing authority can provide further information and support with your application.

Taxi test

Your local licensing authority may need you to take a taxi test as part of your taxi license application. If so, they will give you a list of providers you can use to book a taxi test.

We are a taxi test provider.

Booking a taxi test

You can book a taxi test with us as part of your taxi licensing application with:

  • Broadland Council
  • South Norfolk Council
  • Breckland Council
  • Norwich City Council

To book a taxi test with us you must pay the £60 cost before we can arrange a test date.

We arrange test dates four weeks in advance. There is no guarantee that we can arrange test dates sooner.

How to pay for a taxi test

You can pay the £60 fee for your taxi test:

What you must provide for the taxi test

To take the taxi test you must have:

  • A medical check, including an eyesight test. You will have to pay your doctor for this. These check-ups are not free under current NHS regulations.
  • A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Request a basic DBS check on the GOV.UK website.
  • A current full car driving licence
  • Paid for the issue of a taxi licence

On the day of your test you must provide evidence that your vehicle is road legal:

  • Proof of insurance
  • MOT
  • Your original driving license

If you fail to provide these original documents, we may cancel your test. You must pay the £60 fee again to rebook the test.

We offer remedy training. This offers extra driving support.

Local licensing authorities may refer you to us for remedy training. For example, if you have received any driving penalty points.
