St Olave's Drainage Mill
Dan England of Ludham built this mill about 1910. It has also been known as 'Perry's Mill'. The mill worked until 1957. It is now a Grade II* listed building.
It is one of only three open trestle mills (or 'skeleton mills') left in Norfolk, alongside Boardman's Mill and Hobb's Mill. In 1928 the open trestle was weatherboarded so that the mill now has the appearance of a smock mill. The trestle frame contains a scoop wheel.
The mill stands on the east bank of the River Waveney at St. Olaves. The mill can be seen from the riverside footpath that runs north from the bridge that carries the A143 over the river, and by boat from the river itself. It is not usually open to the public.
