Council company celebrates completion of first housing development
Repton Property Developments, Norfolk County Council's wholly owned development company, has hit a major milestone following the completion of the 'Saxon Heath' development in Attleborough.
The 48-home site, made up of 100% affordable properties, is the first Repton project to be fully completed since the company was established in 2017.
Councillor Jane James, cabinet member for corporate service and innovation at Norfolk County Council, said: "This is a significant achievement for Repton and delivers on our promise to build high-quality affordable homes in Norfolk. This site is a great example of how we can work together with our partners to meet the housing needs and meet the aspirations of our residents."
The homes were built by Lovell Homes and were made available through Orbit Homes Shared Ownership Scheme and social rent. The development is made up of a mix 1-bedroom apartments alongside 2 and 3 bedroom houses.
Simon Medler, regional managing director at Lovell, said: "This has been a fantastic partnership with Repton and Orbit to deliver these much-needed affordable homes to Attleborough, and we are delighted to have completed them on time and to a high standard. We hope the residents of Saxon Heath enjoy their new homes."
Construction on the Saxon Heath estate in Attleborough began in August 2022 and has been designed in conjunction with Lovell to meet the design and specification requirements of Orbit Homes, who will manage the site.
Repton Property Developments are also making good progress on their other projects across the county, with further milestones coming forward later this year. They include:
- The final homes at the St Edmund's Park project in Acle are expected to be sold later this year. The scheme features 137 homes including 68 affordable rent and shared ownership properties.
- Work is under way in Hunstanton which will convert the former infant school into 11 new homes. This will bring the building back into use while respecting and enhancing the character of the historic school site.
- Construction at Caister-on-Sea's 'Burton Cove' development began August last year with the first properties due to go on sale this year.
- The first tenants moved into the 200-home Bowlers Green development in Hopton-on-Sea at the end of last year. Flagship Homes have purchased 60 of the 200 homes for rent or shared ownership. This project was named 'Residential Project of the Year' at the Norfolk Constructing Excellence Awards earlier this year.
