Book online

You must book a 15-minute time slot to visit a Norfolk Recycling Centre.

Book a slot

There's no charge to make a booking and you can book as many slots as you need. Charges still apply for:

You can only book one slot at a time. But as long as they're available, you can book as many slots as you need each day.

When you book, select the recycling centre, date and time you want to visit. Then enter the following details:

  • Your name
  • Your address
  • Registration number of the vehicle you will use when you visit
  • Your email address
  • Whether you are bringing DIY waste

We'll send you a booking confirmation by email.

You can change some details after you've booked. Visit change or cancel your booking to find out more.

MyNorfolk account

You can sign in or register for a MyNorfolk account when you book. This is optional but it can make the process quicker by remembering your contact details for next time.

What happens when you arrive at the recycling centre

Staff at the recycling centre will check you in when you arrive. Please arrive within the 15-minute time slot you have booked.

You do not need to unload all your waste within that time, and you will not be asked to leave if you take longer than 15 minutes.

Arriving early or late

Please arrive within your 15-minute time slot.

If you arrive early, we may be able to accommodate your visit, or you may need to wait until the time you booked.

If you're late, we may be able to accommodate your visit. But this is not guaranteed, and you may need to book a new visit. You will not be allowed to enter any of the recycling centres or reuse shops after 4pm.

Arriving without a booking

You will need to book to bring waste to any of the recycling centres, including visits on foot or by bicycle. You can book on the day and up until the time of each slot. If you do not book, you will be refused entry and will need to book a slot.

Visit reuse shops without booking

You do not need to book to buy from or donate to a reuse shop.

If you want to leave any waste or recycling as well, then you must book a slot.

Book to bring DIY waste

We will ask if you are bringing DIY waste when you book and charges may apply.

Book to bring waste

Book to bring trade waste

All trade waste customers need to book. You'll also need to bring a copy of your waste carriers' licence with you when you visit.

Book to bring trade waste

You cannot leave trade waste if you've booked a household waste visit.

How many trade waste time slots are there?

The number of trade waste time slots available each day depends on the recycling centre and how many spaces it has. As long as there is space, you can book as many slots as you need each day.

Why we have introduced a booking system for Norfolk Recycling Centres

The booking system will help:

  • Reduce congestion
  • Reduce waiting times
  • Reduce the risk of traders disposing of waste without paying
  • Save the council money by spreading customer visits across our opening hours

Concerns about fly-tipping

Other councils that already have booking systems, including Suffolk and Essex, have not found any evidence that the booking process has increased fly-tipping levels.

In January 2023, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) carried out a study to find if there were any links between recycling centres using booking systems and fly-tipping. Surveys and interviews carried out with local authorities did not show a link between booking systems and fly-tipping.

DEFRA's report: Research into possible links between recycling centres and incidents of fly-tipping.
